If you are going on a cruise from Vancouver, we highly recommend the Pan Pacific Hotel. From the airport, there is a train that takes you just a few blocks form the Hotel Entrance. The port is connected to the Hotel, so that is very convenient. Also, it’s location in proximity to things to do in Vancouver can’t be beat. It was a popular meeting point for many tour offerings as well.
Vancouver Must -Dos
Short on Time? These are the things we would not miss doing in Vancouver.
- Capilano Suspension Bridge
- We used private transportation, but there is a free shuttle from the Cruise Port/Pan Pacific Hotel.
- Dine at Gas Town
- Gas Town is just a short walk from the Pan Pacific Hotel and has great food and vibe.
- Stanley Park
- Maybe plan better to not get lost resulting in extra miles and a long uphill climb, but riding bikes around Stanley Island is popular and a great way to see some of the natural beauty of Vancouver
Vancouver Fun-To-Dos
Have some extra time? These were things we did that we would probably not do should we get to Vancouver again.
- Grouse Mountain
- The ride up and down the mountain is fun, but extremely crowded. We enjoyed walking around the top, but did not find a great lookout point and we were not able to enjoy a sit down meal as we had hoped. Many of the activities cost extra money.
- Harbor Cruise
- The Harbor Cruise only took an hour and offered additional views of Vancouver and some touristy information about the city. Seating could be hard to get and it was often hard to hear if you were on the top deck, where the views were best.
- FlyOver Canada
- This was very touristy. While it was entertaining and it was similar to one of our favorite rides at Walt Disney World, it was also expensive and crowded. Only something to do to pass time.
Vancouver Skips
We did these and would not recommend doing even once.
- China Town
- Just not the best place for people unfamiliar with the area. Hopefully, this changes.
- Hop-On/Hop-Off Bus
- Due to high crowds and long wait times, we did not get our money’s worth of this. We found more places were actually walkable than we originally thought.
