Day 2: Barcelona

After a much needed nights sleep, we were off and running in the monring.

We started in search of breakfast and ended up in La Boqueria. This is an open air market, and we went there in 2019 as well. You can read about that visit here. I am always enchanted by all the things that are sold here. Europe always makes me want fresher food options in the US. We all grabbed some food, then we headed to Starbucks for coffee. Because, of course.

After our visit to La Boqueria, we went to the beach. The kids loved being at the beach. We, surprisingly, don’t go to beaches all that often, so they didn’t want to leave. It was very crowded, but we were able to find a little space, and the weather was perfect. There are many people walking around to sell drinks and umbrellas and towels. A quick but firm “No” will send them on their way, or if you want, bargain with them!

After the beach, we were due for a late lunch. We ended up at Cal Pinxo, a local seaside restaurant. In my pursuit of learning what Paella actually is, I ordered Seafood Paella. Jack got tuna tartare, Kate got seafood croquettes, and Dan got a lobster dish. Dan and I got Creme Brulé for dessert and the kids got cheesecake. Europe just does desserts better.

After this, we walked back to the hotel, and wandered onto a square that we visited last time we were in Barcelona. Of course, we had to get some comparison pictures.

We spent the evening at a spanish paella cooking class. We had so much fun learning how to cook paella in a small group setting. They gave us the recipe to bring home, so I am sure we will be giving it a try at home. We learned a lot and really enjoyed the others in our group.

That’s a wrap on Day 2 in Barcelona! We are going to bed with tired legs and sore bellies. Tomorrow, we wrap up our time in Barcelona and board the Disney Dream.
