Santorini, Greece

We learned today that no one is going to Santorini for the history or architecture. People go to Santorini for the vibes. The entire island is filled with Instagram worthy views. We decided the ideal thing to do in Santorini is stay in a cliffside hotel and soak up the views. We also learned that the blue domed buildings that are so iconic of Greece are literally just a few painted domes. There is one spot to get the money shot and it is crowded.

From our ship, we tendered into port, then took a cable car up to the town of Fira, on top of the cliffside. We had a tour guide driving us around today and he took us around the entire island while explaining the history of the island. Santorini is surrounded by volcanoes, so most of the rock is lava rock and pumice. We visited a Greek Orthodox Church, a monastery, and a black sand beach. We had lunch at an authentic Greek restaurant in a little village. We learned that they don’t grow their grapes on vines, but in little vortex on the ground.

Enjoy the pictures and vibes of Santorini!
