Day 11: Edinburgh, Scotland

August 3, 2026

We disembarked from the Disney Dream in Southampton today. We arranged a private transfer from Southampton to King’s Cross Station in London. This transfer took almost 3 hours instead of the normal 2 due to rush hour traffic.

Once we got to King’s Cross Station, we boarded a train to Edinburgh. We have made some modifications to our typical travel style because my parents are with us. We decided to get first class tickets because this allowed us to reserve our seats. I am so glad we did that because it was a bit hectic. Also, our first class ticket got us drinks and a meal, which was nice.

Once we arrived in Edinburgh, my parents, Dan, and Jack took our luggage in a taxi to the hotel and Kate and I walked. It was a really nice walk and we enjoyed it. Many of the statues had cones on them. The kids said when the Scottish came to the US for the World Cup, they put cones on the statues in the US.

For dinner, I had reservations at The Witchery. It is located right against Edinburgh Castle. All the tables were candlelit and it was beautiful. Kate and I got the Lobster Thermador and it was so good. Jack and Dan got the filet and also loved it. My dessert was a pisachio and almond tart with cherries and it was excellent.

After dinner, we walked down the Royal Mile back to our hotel. This is a very active area filled with shops and street performers.

Last but not least, my outfit of the day. I was very comfortable in these layers.
